About Dominique
Dominique Cetale is a thoughtful, compassionate and evidence-driven speech-language pathologist with a special interest in pediatric language and literacy. She provides individualized, evidence-based therapy to toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged children, tailoring intervention to each child’s strengths and communication goals.
Dominique holds a Master of Science in Speech, Language, and Learning from Northwestern University and a bachelor’s degree from UCLA. She is proficient in Spanish and has worked with children from a wide range of linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Her clinical experience includes providing assessment and therapy for children with receptive and expressive language disorders, autism, speech sound disorders, auditory processing differences, specific learning disabilities, phonological processing weaknesses, childhood apraxia of speech, and social communication challenges.
Dominique’s clinical training includes work at Northwestern University’s Center for Audiology, Speech, Language, and Learning, Hyde Park Day School, a specialized school for students with language-based learning differences, and The Indy Lab, a preschool emphasizing multi-sensory pre-literacy instruction. She most recently worked as a speech-language pathologist at Kids Language Center in Cos Cob, Connecticut, where she provided therapy and comprehensive evaluations for children with a wide range of communication needs.
Dominique’s therapy approach blends structured, evidence-based methodologies with play-based and relationship-driven intervention to promote meaningful engagement and long-term progress. Therapy is grounded in evidence-based programs and methodologies, including Lindamood-Bell Visualizing and Verbalizing, Michelle Garcia Winner’s Social Thinking® Curriculum, The Writing Revolution, Story Grammar Marker, and Preventing Academic Failure (PAF), a multi-sensory approach to reading, spelling, and handwriting.
When working with children who have speech sound disorders, Dominique draws from approaches such as the cycles approach, complexity approach, multiple oppositions, and coarticulation strategies, while also targeting phonological awareness and auditory processing to support long-term academic success. With older children and adolescents, Dominique supports reading comprehension, written expression, and higher-level language skills through visualization strategies, sentence-level analysis, and explicit instruction in narrative structure and morphology.
Dominique is deeply committed to collaboration, working closely with families, educators, physicians, and related professionals to ensure each child receives thoughtful and cohesive care. Whether she is supporting a two-year-old developing early language or a teenager navigating complex academic demands, Dominique strives to create a warm, encouraging environment where kids feel confident, capable, and empowered.
She looks forward to partnering with you and supporting your child’s communication growth.
Services
-
Speech sound disorders occur when a child has difficulty producing speech sounds correctly or using sound patterns appropriate for their age, which can impact speech clarity and overall communication. Children with speech sound disorders may be hard to understand, omit or substitute sounds, or use patterns such as leaving off ending sounds or simplifying longer words.
-
Language disorders affect a child’s ability to understand and/or use spoken language to communicate effectively. Children may have difficulty following directions, learning new words, forming sentences, or expressing their ideas clearly at home, school, and in social settings.
Therapy is individualized and evidence-based, focusing on building receptive and expressive language skills that support communication, learning, and academic success.
-
Early intervention supports young children who may be experiencing delays in speech, language, or early communication skills. These services focus on building foundational skills such as understanding language, using words and phrases, social interaction, and early play and pre-literacy development.
Therapy is individualized, developmentally appropriate, and family-centered, helping children strengthen communication skills during their most critical years of growth.
-
Social communication focuses on the skills needed to interact effectively with others, including conversation, understanding social cues, perspective-taking, and flexible thinking. Children with social communication challenges may struggle with peer relationships, classroom participation, or navigating everyday social situations.
Therapy is individualized and supports children in developing meaningful, confident communication across social, academic, and real-life settings.
-
Comprehensive speech and language evaluations provide a detailed look at a child’s communication strengths and needs. Assessments may examine speech sound production, receptive and expressive language, social communication, and literacy-related skills, based on the child’s age and areas of concern.
Each evaluation includes a parent interview, standardized and informal assessments, a written report with individualized recommendations, and a feedback meeting to discuss results and next steps.
-
Pre-literacy, reading comprehension, and writing support focus on the language foundations required for academic success. Services may target phonological awareness, vocabulary development, narrative skills, sentence structure, and the ability to understand and organize both spoken and written language.
Therapy is evidence-based and developmentally appropriate, drawing from multi-sensory, literacy-focused approaches to strengthen reading understanding, written expression, and higher-level language skills while building confidence and independence in learning.
